Who Knew…
…closing our store could have such an amazingly positive effect on our sex life. It’s as if we’ve been reborn, sexually. Hopefully, our website revenues will hold steady and we can keep the good times rolling.
That’s not to say we’re not busy working in other ways; indeed, we’ve been hammering out updates to our website at a rate not seen since, well, before we opened our store. New product reviews, picture galleries, how-to articles, and other sexuality-related content has found its way online on an almost hourly basis. We even managed to launch our first Podcasts, which you can find here or on iTunes for free. Each week, we tackle a sexual-themed topic (most embarrassing sexual moment, does marriage kill sex, erotic photography) and join with Alicia Brandt of LA’s infamous Women’s Night Out to give our sometimes funny, offbeat takes on each. With the long hours of running the retail store behind us, we’ve managed to reclaim our social lives, leaving our Westside seclusion to venture into the LA metropolis proper. This past weekend, we stowed our 10 year old with friends and hit the Bassnectar show at the Music Box in Hollywood. If you haven’t yet been drenched in the sweet sounds of DJ Lorin Ashton – aka Bassnectar – do yourselves a favor and see him live on his next trip though SoCal. His shows are part dance, part social elevation, as he mixes heavy basslines with inspirational quotes and passages. You can also catch him on the playa at Burning Man every year, where he plays several sets at different venues, using them as pseudo experimental laboratories for productions during throughout the year. Porn and toys were also on the agenda during our child rearing respite, with a few notable sexy scenes and objects putting us in the bedroom sweet spot. “The Lifestyle,” from Wicked Pictures is a great title for couples new to porn, as it features great sex scenes in the context of marriage. For us, the Stormy Daniels directed feature hit WAY close to home, as it follows a couple trying to get their sex life back on track after the usual distractions take it off course (kids, jobs, etc.). One scene, in particular, shows the film’s main couple attempting a myriad of different ways to heat up their dormant sex life (role play, costumes, porn, and toys), each one failing hilariously. The whole sequence reminded us of when we started Freddy and Eddy eight years ago, stumbling through one product after the next as we educated ourselves on what each item did (or didn’t) do. Another hot adult title we loved was “This Aint Star Trek XXX,” from Hustler. Starring a short-haired Evan Stone in the role he was born to play, this comedy take on our favorite sci-fi team really does take the crew of the Enterprise “Where no man has come before.”
