Synopsis: A "rabbit-type" vibe with variable controls for both
clit stimulation and vaginal penetration.
Our Review: Being
unabashed fans of Fun Factory, we approached this toy with huge
expectations. With the
Worm/Paulchen g-spot vibrator occupying a spot on our
Top Ten list for over two
years, we approached this multi-purpose device expecting atomic
results. Alas, though a solid performer and good value for its
$65.00 price tag, it fell short of the spectacular
Vibratex Charmer and
elicited a lukewarm review from both of us. That's not to say it
won't be absolutely fabulous for you (or your partner), but for us
it was merely, well, fun.
The Mary Mermaid
is 7" tall, not including the control base, with a diameter of 1"
at the top, making its way to an eventual 1.75" at the bottom. A
protruding clit stimulating tail extends 1.5" out and upward and
the flexible silicone material makes it easy to manipulate into
position regardless of your anatomy. Be warned, however, that you
will have to penetrate pretty deeply to reach the clit with the
tail. Construction overall is the usual built-to-last trademark of
Fun Factory, with everything solidly encased and sealed for years
of dependable use.
Putting the
Mermaid into action is as simple as adding some lube and hitting
one of two buttons (or both). On the left, controls for the
oscillating vibrator offer three speeds, while on the right are
the settings for the tale, which can be manipulated to increase
vibration power and give you the ability to set pre-programmed
vibration actions (such as beginning slowly and increasing in
power) to eliminate having to constantly do it manually. As with
all Fun Factory products, much thought has gone into the
ergonomics and ease of use aspects, which are no exception with
the Mermaid.
Putting it to
use, we had Eddy take it for a solo run behind closed (bedroom)
door, where she reported it to be pleasurable and easy to use. The
rotating beads inside the shaft could've used a bit more silicone
around them, but the ears tingled the clit just right. I then
entered the picture and manipulated it for a bit, again with nice
results, before nature got the best of me and I had to take over
and give her the best toy of all to review. We've used the Mary
Mermaid again a few times, with pretty much the same experience.
On a funny note,
the first time we tried the Mary Mermaid, it was quite dark and
the toy was not very easy to insert, making us think something
must be defective. After we flipped on the lights, it turned out
that I had accidentally applied hand lotion instead of lube, which
sent us into a mini panic thinking we might have to go to the
emergency room. By now, we're sure every doctor in Los Angeles has
added our story to their repertoire. :-)
In summation, we
recommend this toy as a good value, though you might want to spend
a few extra dollars for the
Charmer and get
better results. If you're interested in purchasing a Mary Mermaid,
