Synopsis: A women's primer in all things tantra.
Charu's Review:
In the past 6 years of intense research on Tantra, this book has
been the only book that was able to put into words what I had
been discovering through my own Tantric exploration. Diana
Richardson truly goes to the heart of Tantra and offers actual
lovemaking techniques, by focusing on the true nature of the act
of lovemaking and the potential for transformation through
re-connecting and tuning to our own bodies
She touches on how this form of Tantric lovemaking is likely to
appeal to women before men. How many women are craving something different
from their sexual experience…that we have for too long settled for a more
masculine fueled sexual experience. As women we have an innate knowing of
the potential richness of sex, how it can truly be the doorway to intimacy,
divine loving, even ecstasy. Tantric Orgasm for Women invites every
woman to trust herself deeply and discover all that it means to be woman.
So many of the points brought up in this book were things that I
had felt to be true, but I thought I was the only one and so I continued on
in my habitual relating with men. It is incredible how much I have flowered
in knowing that I am not alone.
Another great thing is that at the end of each chapter it gives you
an exercise to try. They are very simple and powerful, and attainable with
dedication.
Diana offers wonderful insight on the idea of orgasm vs.
orgasmic, something every woman should know more about on this path,
which becomes a cornerstone for truly understanding the Tantric road.
One of the main points that she makes, which had me jumping up and
down shouting ‘I knew it!’ is about the importance of breasts as the key to
orgasm. I have often noticed that when my nipples are being sucked on I
become wet and open; yet if my partner goes directly for my yoni (Tantric
word for vagina) I don’t feel that deep relaxation and I tend to become
fixated on trying to have an orgasm which can take me away from my partner.
To have it confirmed in writing that giving attention to the breasts can be
deeply opening was truly liberating.
She also addressed many topics in a unique way that spoke to me:
our relationship to our clit, the role women play in man’s erection, and the
part our emotions play in relationship.
It was easy to read, accessible to those new to Tantra, as well as
seasoned practitioners; and best of all it is not in any way ‘airy-fairy-goddessy.’
It is a must read for anyone who is interested in a deeper
understanding of Tantra.
