Our Review: How
do you make one of the best sex products on the market even
better? Simple, add restraints, a blindfold, and your
imaginations!
We've been huge
fans of the Liberator Shapes since being introduced to them in
2001 and we still have not used them in every possible position
and combination available. In fact, when you factor in all four
main pieces (the Ramp, Wedge, Cube, and Stage) it's hard to
imagine being able to
 try
every angle, combo, and position listed in Liberator's manual alone. Of course, being great props for
our child's Bionicle Lego collection make them that much more
utilitarian. The products have performed flawlessly over the years
- a testament to their quality construction - and they continue to
deliver many a sexy interlude.
The Extreme
product line takes the existing shapes, adds black velvet covers,
and has plastic clips attached to nylon straps mounted
strategically on each side of a given shape. This allows the
user(s) to attach soft cuffs, in essence, binding him or her to
the cushion for S&M play. All parts are adjustable to accommodate
just about any wrist or ankle and the cuffs themselves are lined
with soft velour for comfort. As a fun bonus, a blindfold is
included to add to your fun. As with the original
Liberator shapes, the
covers are machine washable and get softer with each cycle. so
don't be shy about washing the daylights out of them.
 As
we're huge fans of mild BDSM play, these cushions were an instant
hit. For Eddy, the shapes are much less intimidating than most
bondage gear on the market, therefore she was able to relax
knowing she could free herself at any time; indeed, our 5 year old
could probably break his way out if he wanted. The cuffs are some
of the most comfortable you'll find anywhere and the blind fold
was as comfortable as any we've tried so far. A video and
instruction manual help immensely for those unfamiliar with this
kind of sexual exploration. You might want to pick up a flogger or
riding whip to enhance your experience; however, a spatula and/or
leather belt will do just fine. As with any form of BDSM play,
trust is the key and imagination is what drives the fantasy
forward - be creative!
 Our
first foray was similar to the picture at left (no, that's not US
you dirty minds!) and we have since taken turns in the
submissive/dominant roles, with Freddy definitely enjoying being
the submissive a great deal (see picture at right). We've only
owned them for a couple of months and we're having a fun time
exploring all of the different possibilities! And, after a
washing, we've simply left them in the living room (nylon storage
covers on) to be used as furniture to watch tv (the Ramp is great
for watching from the floor), to kick up our feet (the Cube makes
a fab ottoman), and for our child to involve in his play time
(he'll use every shape he can get his hands on for this).
In summation,
another winner from the folks at Liberator! These shapes combine
all of the great features from the original product line with the
fun of BDSM play, making them a great addition to any room in your
