Synopsis: A
witty and satirical view of the many arguments of an otherwise perfectly
healthy couple. A fun and enlightening read that can suck an entire
afternoon from you.
Our Review:
Satire is a tentative subject; some hate it, some love it, and
then there are some who write it with talent only surpassed by
their wit. Mil, our protagonist (or antagonist, depending on your
point of view) doesn’t hesitate to write every sordid detail
(without exaggeration, of course *cough*) of his arguments with
Margret, his longtime girlfriend and mother of his two children in
this humorous look at a relationship that is positively ripe for
the satirist’s picking. A columnist for
Britain’s The
Weekly, Mil’s taste and talent for satire runs deep. Oh so
deep.
Although Mil doesn’t
update the site anymore due to its size, he does have a by (free)
subscription only mailing list in which he sends updates and
“Things” as he calls them. The minute I hit the bottom of the
list that he’s left up, I subscribed, hungering for more. Ranger
laughed alongside me. Well, more precisely he laughed several
feet away on his laptop at a completely different section of the
page which led me to giggle and nod occasionally as he repeated
paragraphs I had read half an hour before. Still, we both enjoyed
it, using it both as a springboard for comparisons to how much
better our relationship is than previous ones and a reminder to
laugh about our petty arguments.

isn’t for everyone, but it surely is for anyone who has ever had an argument
with their significant other that they just wanted to videotape because of
the ridiculousness of it. It is for people who can laugh at the
exaggerations and hilarity of relationship satire. It is for people who
love satire but can get sick of it being primarily political. And if you’re
here at this site, enjoying it and learning from it like so many of us do,
it’s probably for you too. |
