Synopsis: A series of sex scenes starring some very alternative
folks.
Our Review: Let's
face it, most porn is absolute crap. Yes, 99 out of 100 titles
produced are completely unwatchable, predictable, and feature the
same stars over and over and over. Too much silicone, too much bad
acting, and too much non-believable sex make for tedious viewing
and less than stimulating results.
The folks at
Pirate Booty Productions are out to change all this. Though we
certainly can't say everyone will find their productions sexually
compatible with their own milquetoast tastes, we certainly have to
tip our hats to the company's willingness to part from adult video
norms and venture into untapped territories. Pirate's first
effort, Psychocandy, was
one of our surprise favorites of 2004. With performers from the
alternative slices of society, lack of lame plot or attempts at
acting, the crew seemed to be having a great time with a nod and a
wink and we found ourselves actually sitting through the entire
production without hitting the remote - a rarity after so many
adult film viewings.
Well, the folks
at Pirate are back at it, releasing two follow-ups to Psychocandy,
the second of which we popped into our DVD player with great
anticipation. And, as wacky as their first film was, this one tops
it in almost every way. First, their production values have gone
WAY up. The graininess from the first Psychocandy is now gone and
the whole look is much higher quality, with nice titling anqd
vivid colors and better camera work overall. The music follows the
same ambient, rock, punk, techno beat as their first effort, but
again is of much higher quality this time around.
As for the
action, if you're looking for big-breasted, collagen lip injected
porn stars, you better find another company from which to consume
your porn. This collection of do-badders looks more like the folks
you avoided in high school, with gothic and punk leanings leading
the way. Tattoos are common, as are piercings, dark makeup, dyed
hair, and even a Mohawk. The first scene, for example, has
Mohawk-styled J. Daggers getting nasty with tongue and
belly-button pierced, tattooed Nicole Parks. We imagined this must
have been what sex looked like between Sid and Nancy and yet... we
found it oddly attractive. The sex itself doesn't venture into the
extreme realms - a good thing - and we were happy to see our
favorite gal of the bunch, Missy Misfit, team with red-haired
Benny Profane in the next scene. Raycee and our favorite pirate
from Psychocandy have a fling, showing a few extra pounds don't
necessarily detract from a hot sex scene.
By far the best
episode in the entire film, however, is J. Daggers returning to
take on Spanish Crave, who is cute and gives one heckuva blowjob.
The scene seems to be the longest on the disk, though we didn't
actually time it. Psychocandy ends with Sexi Lexi and Benny
Profane getting busy, and contains one of the funniest promo clips
you'll find in any movie touting the third installment in their
growing library.
In summation,
this is a great title for nothing else than it's originality. You
may not like gothic punk and therefore should avoid it; but if
you're looking for something decidedly different, this is one to
give a chance.
