Our Review: The Awakening is one hell of an adult film. No, this is no porno flick, no stag film, no blue movie. This is a film with a plot, a storyline, superb camerawork and production values, and great, and I mean great, acting. The sex that the movie features is there for a reason. It fits in, and helps to move the plot along and to develop the characters. It blends perfectly into the film, and is never overpowering, overdone, or overacted. If you want the quick beat off, this is not a film for you. But, if you want to actually watch a XXX rated movie, fire this one up, and put the remote control down.
 Now you may ask why The 8” Critic always ends up with the Kobe Tai discs to review. I assign the frigging things! That’s why! Sure she’s a big favorite of mine, but I have panned her in the past. She never get’s a free pass from me (I’d give her just about anything else she wanted however…), but she certainly deserves kudos for this flick. Inari Vachs actually steals the show with her top notch acting performance, and Bobby Vitale shines as well. 
 The story is of Bobby and Inari as lovers who make a living filming and shooting sex scenes for film and magazine. (Nice life…where do I sign up?) The two carry on a wild lifestyle with drugs, drink, and free-love making up the larger part of each day. Kobe stars as Inari’s sister (hmm…mix up at the hospital?) who is a singer (The Real Slim Shanghei?) struggling with an addictive lifestyle. She’s been sober for some time, but teeters on the edge, no thanks to the constant tempting of Mr. Vitale who plays the part of a drunkard very well. 
 After one particularly wild night, an awful accident takes place that leaves Inari paralyzed from the waist down. As she searches out a way to regain the use of her legs, she ends up at a new age healer who brings back her ability to walk. She slowly transforms into a more spiritual person, as her sister drifts in the opposite direction. Bobby stays the same old drunken sex addict that he always was, and the pair are slowly torn apart over the course of the movie. 
 Towards the end of the film, our good friend Tyce Bune appears as Casseus, a fraudulent spirtiual leader who Inari turns to for help with her sister. After being exposed as a gimmick, Inari looks elsewhere for spiritutality, kicks Bobby out (he hooks up with Kobe), and finally, years later ends up back on the tittie bar circuit. Ah…life sure does suck…doesn’t it? Anyway, along the way, ten or so sex scenes are interspersed throughout the flick. 
While Inari is a bad girl, she gets eaten out by Bobby, blows him and licks up some of his jizz. Quite a nice scene where she jerks him off while he cums. She blows, is eaten by, and gets it up the ass from Michael J Cox, who shoots on her butt. Inari blows Bobby again for a short scene where he ends up jerking himself off. A bit later, Inari takes on Bobby, this time, getting rimmed quite nicely.  During a party at the Vitale house, there’s rampant, short sex scenes including a three-way with Vitale, Dascha and Taylor. Some nice strap on action, and frequent switches made this an interesting segment.
 At a photo shoot, there’s a bit of kink when Bobby sticks the handle of a whip up Renee LaRue’s ass while she plays with Maya. Bobby beats off while the two models eat and finger each other. 
Finally, my Kobe appears in a sex scene after singing a seductive tune, enticing the audience into a bit of their own sex. She takes on a willing female from the audience for some very brief oral. We quickly cut to Julian in a rubber suit and hood taking on Regan star. I really liked this brief scene, as Regan gets it anally, and jerks Julian to orgasm. 
Kobe takes the film over from here in scenes with Bobby, and a multi man screw in the back of a van with Evan Stone, and two other guys (Ted Shred and ?). Watch for Kobe’s anal with Bobby, and how she eagarly licks up the cum during her van scene.
 The final scene is all too brief. I was jacked when Tyce licked Kobe’s tit, fondled and sniffed her sexy toes. It stops short when he immediately beats off on her feet.  Wow….lots of sex…hmm…..? Well, yes and no. You may have noticed that my commentary on each scene was rather brief. Much shorter than I usually shoot for. That’s really because all of the scenes are all fairly short. Not uncommon in a Thomas film, as he uses the sex to blend the flick together. It’s not really the centerpiece. Now don’t get me wrong, it is well done, but just not all that “raunchy”, if that’s what you’re shooting for (or makes you shoot?) .You also won’t get all that many tight, close in shots, and I did find myself wanting to see a bit more of the action from a “front twat seat” so to speak. 
This may be the consummate couples flick. I’d use it to introduce a mate to the genre, or as an “old reliable” that will be sure to get that special someone’s juices flowing. Maybe we should have an “Adult Film” review section? I don’t know. All I know is that this is one of the most well done films I have seen. Vivid really has a talent for producing “Adult Films That Treat You Like An Adult”!! I stayed awake, wide awake, and so will the two of you.
