Spooky's Review:
Usually
porn fans would have to wait until the Fall for a big title like
Curse Eternal to come along, so it was a bit of a treat
to see something so well-made come out this early in the year.
Marking Kaylani Lei’s final big starring role before she left
the studio as a Contract Girl last year, Curse Eternal
casts her as the ancient Egyptian queen Neferkala, whose tomb
has been undisturbed for thousands of years...that is, until a
professor played by Randy Spears unearths it at the beginning of
this movie.
The story begins with Randy opening Kaylani’s tomb – only to
have her come to life in front of his eyes. Kaylani wants to
both punish Randy for disturbing her tomb and reward him for
freeing her, so she proceeds to have sex with him and then
sucks the life energy out of him. Any similarities between this
scene and what women do to men in real life is, I’m sure, purely
coincidental! Even though Randy has been killed, his partner
(who ran off when he saw Kaylani) is still alive, and he
dynamites the tomb – burying Kaylani once again.
The movie then jumps ahead in time to the present day, where we
are introduced to another professor, played by Jessica Drake,
who is playing the grown daughter of Randy’s character. She gets
word that the tomb where her father perished has been found, so
after a “quickie” with boyfriend Eric Masterson, it’s off to
Egypt for Jessica.
Unlike her father, Jessica doesn’t open Kaylani’s tomb when she
discovers it. Instead she decides to have it shipped back to her
lab in the United States, and it’s only there that she removes
the lid and starts studying the sarcophagus. However, when
Jessica leaves her lab for the night, Kaylani rises again and
gives security guard Chris Cannon the same pleasure...and
punishment...she gave to Randy Spears at the beginning of the
film.
Kaylani makes her way out into the streets (only in Los Angeles,
I suppose, would a woman wearing Egyptian garb seem to blend
right in), and makes her way to a night club, where Jessica’s
lab assistant spots her. He calls Jessica and gets her to come
to the club; and in the meantime, Kaylani has made her way to
the women’s rest room where Keri Sable has just finished giving
Barrett Blade a blowjob. Kaylani is impressed by the ankh tattoo
that Keri has on her left arm, and she proceeds to lick and
finger Keri’s pussy...once again, sucking the life out of her
when she’s finished!
Jessica gets to the club and confronts Kaylani who identifies
herself to Jessica, and then proceeds to put her into some kind
of trance where Jessica experiences two mini-orgies – one in the
club where she’s joined by Ice LaFox, Lezley Zen, Gia Jordan,
Kelly Kline, Brad Armstrong and Kris Knight; and one in ancient
Egypt where she pairs up with Ice LaFox, Eva Angelina, Brad
Armstrong and Joey Ray (and during which she gets anal in the
reverse cowgirl position from Brad).
The remainder of Curse Eternal has Jessica and Kaylani
searching the city for the reincarnated form of Nomron,
Kaylani’s lover in her previous life who was executed. Of
course, it’s perhaps no surprise that Nomron has been
reincarnated in the body of Jessica’s current boyfriend –
leading to a movie-ending threesome between Jessica, Kaylani and
Eric Masterson.
Curse Eternal was written and directed by Brad Armstrong,
and it’s a well-shot, well-performed adult feature that should
especially appeal to the couples’ crowd. If there’s one minor
flaw that the movie has, it’s that the story takes itself a
little too seriously – I think I would have enjoyed it
more if it had been a little more tongue-in-cheek, given the
premise of the flick.
Disc One of this double DVD set contains the movie itself, which
runs over 2 ½ hours in length and contains nine sex scenes in
total (ten if you count that Jessica’s two orgy segments are, in
fact, two separate scenes). The movie is presented in the
widescreen anamorphic format with 5.1 Dolby sound and the option
to listen to either a dialogue-only track or a music-only track.
2.0 Spanish and German tracks are also available. Disc One also
contains a feature-length commentary track with Brad Armstrong
and Jessica Drake.
Over on Disc Two are the majority of the bonus features,
including an entertaining 42-minute Making Of featurette. There
are also three bonus scenes taken from the Wicked titles Sold
(Jessica’s threesome with Keri Sable and Brad Armstrong),
Erotik (Kaylani’s teaming with Manuel Ferarra), and
Perfect Life (Kaylani and Jessica with Chris Evans).
Additional features include bloopers from the movie; a look at
the box cover shoot; an interview with Brad Armstrong; slide
shows; cast bios; and 10 trailers for other Wicked releases.
Curse Eternal is far and away the best DVD you’ll find on
the recent list of new adult titles, and a real treat for
Kaylani Lei fans, since this may very well be the last time
we’ll see her in front of the cameras. It’s the first “great”
porno of 2006.
Freddy and Eddy Say: First of all, we enjoyed this DVD
immensely. Aside from having a LOT of sexual action, there's
more Keylani Lei than practically any adult flick we're ever
seen (which is a GREAT thing!). Of course, this being a Wicked
production, the requisite male trio of Randy Spears, Chris
Cannon, and Barrett Blade all inevitably show up. Are there
really no other guys out there who can do porn? Oh well. Even
with those familiar faces - and cocks - we found lots to like.
For those of you who don't like anal action, be warned there is
a little bit here and there, as well as the obligatory lesbian
stuff. Still, this is a hot title that'll have you reaching for
the bottle of lube in no time.
