Our Review:
First, we must clarify some things. One, we've watched hundreds of
porn movies, from mild to very extreme. Therefore, we're pretty
de-sensitized to most adult fare and it now takes a VERY good
flick to get us wound up. We view this as a good thing, because
(like any movie critic), our tolerance for crap has diminished and
we now refuse to sit through films that offer nothing new or
different or at least have some decent production values to
justify our time watching them.
This title, from
the acclaimed "woman-centric" film director Candida Royale is very
hard for us to evaluate. The sex scenes are tame (almost less
explicit than most Playboy and late night HBO programming) and the
performers are seemingly filmed to look ordinary on purpose. Nina
Hartley, Sharon Kane, Porsche Lynn, and Missy, for example, are
all porn stars who've seen their fair share of real hardcore
action in hundreds of scenes, but here you'd hardly know they've
done any adult films at all. There are long periods of dialogue
between the sexual interludes and yet...
We did like the
title very much. Four friends throw a bridal shower and exchange
stories of how they managed to get their husbands trained to
become good lovers. One explains (short haired Porsche Lynn, with
a rock hard body) how she took her husband on a picnic in which
they devoured each other, while Sharon Kane plays a game of
temptation to break her man of erection anxiety. The final two
concern bondage scenarios and a fantasy threesome, with the final
scene a striptease by Nina Hartley (for her husband) to break
through a rut in their ten year marriage.
As we said
before, there is LOTS of dialogue in this movie. However, it
seemed realistic and we could imagine such a conversation actually
taking place. The sex scenes were likewise believable and you've
probably even tried one or two of them at some point in your
marriage/relationship. So, while the sex scenes don't exactly burn
a hole through the celluloid, this is a great title for beginning
porn watchers and especially shy couples.
