Synopsis: A sect that worships ancient Egypt is attempting to bring Cleopatra back to life by cloning her. Once they've achieved this, the new Cleopatra finds herself immersed in two different worlds - unleashing her sexually charged energy into the current century and reviving her sizzling past.

Our Review (by Spooky, at DVD Empire): The first part of Cleopatra took place in the past. Now, Cleopatra II: The Legend of Eros launches us into the future, as scientists have been able to clone the Egyptian queen (played by Julia Taylor) after discovering her tomb (which happened at the end of Part One). Directed once again by the acclaimed Antonio Adamo, Cleopatra II is a darker film than its predecessor – warning of the dangers of “playing God”, and leaving viewers with the idea that, ultimately, no one can escape their own fate.

As the movie opens, the scientists who have cloned Cleopatra – led by Laura Angel – are celebrating their achievement. With this being porn, of course, there’s no better way to party than to have a little mini-orgy. Laura pairs up with Mick Blue, while cute brunette Alexa May teams with David Perry, and sexy blonde Sandy Style gets frisky with Francesco Malcom. Each of the women get anal from their male partners and – at one point – David leaves Alexa so he can help Mick double penetrate Laura. It’s a pretty nice opening scene, and one that ends with facials for all the girls.

In a conversation between Mick and Robert Rosenberg (who plays the dual roles of both a scientist in the future and Marc Anthony in the past), we discover that Cleopatra – while alive and healthy – is having flashbacks and dreams about her past. Mark seems less concerned about this than Robert (who has been assigned to watch over her), and heads off to have sex with Bettina, a stunning dark-skinned beauty whom Mick pounds in several positions before cumming on her body.

Staying at Robert’s place, Cleopatra falls asleep and has a flashback about making love to Marc Anthony. This is Julia’s first of two scenes in the movie, both of which are with Robert Rosenberg, and both of which are very entertaining. Here, Julia gets spoon and doggy penetration, and then takes anal in doggy and missionary. The coupling ends with a very nice facial cumshot.

Back in present day, a police detective played by Zenza Raggi has located the scientists’ cloning laboratory, but Laura Angel arrives to calm any suspicions he may have – and to offer up her body to him. She goes down on his cock and then turns around for some standing doggy. Towards the end of the action, she takes anal in the missionary position and gets a pop-shot onto her tongue and face.

In yet another flashback to her previous life, Cleopatra dreams about the time she caught Marc Anthony fooling around with another woman (played by Sandra Russo). After seeing them have sex (which includes anal and a facial for Sandra), a depressed Cleopatra asks her handmaidens to bring her some fruit. Upon opening the basket that contains the fruit, Cleopatra discovers a snake – which is the infamous asp that Cleopatra allows to bite her, thus committing suicide.

Cleopatra awakens from her dream trembling and asks to be comforted by Robert – which leads to Cleopatra II’s final sex scene. Once again, Julia shows what a great sexual performer she is by impressing viewers in a scene than includes anal in the doggy position and some titty-fucking. The conclusion has Robert shooting his load onto her breasts.

Up until this point in the film, Cleopatra II feels pretty claustrophobic, with all of the scenes taking place on sets. But we finally get to see some great visuals in the final fifteen minutes of the movie. Cleopatra heads back to Egypt, where she hopes to visit her burial site and come to some understanding about what has happened to her.

Presented in the full-frame format, the video quality of Cleopatra II is top-notch. The audio is dubbed (I still wish Private would provide the original language with English subtitles as an option), but presented at proper levels, with a pretty nice soundtrack accompanying the movie. Bonus material includes a 10 ½-minute behind the scenes featurette on the making of Cleopatra (the same one you’ll find on the 2-disc special edition of Part One); a trailer for Cleopatra; a photo gallery; productions notes; and five trailers for other available Private DVDs.

The ending to Cleopatra II is not a happy one. In fact, rarely do we see an adult director who is willing to end a film on such a down note. But Adamo’s message seems to be clear: no matter what technological advances we may make as a society, we will not be able to escape our destiny. Pretty deep thinking for a porn film, but very welcome in an industry that seems to revel in thin plots and even thinner ideas. I don’t know what project Adamo will pick next, but I’m going to make sure I’m one of the first to check it out. Until then, make sure you check out the Cleopatra saga!
